The year started kind of slow, but things are picking up! Thrive through having FUN with friends who don't live in your neighborhood...Or town. Or city. Or county. 🚗Or within driving distance but not exactly close to you. I met my friends and fellow Texans Brenda and Suzanne in a mastermind for online business people several years ago. We live in 3 different cities. Which in Texas could be almost 900 miles from each other. Beaumont to El Paso is 831 miles to be exact. But for Brenda, Suzanne and me, it's less than 200 miles and no more than a 3 hour drive to a central location. Not something you would do every week, but if you took a day a couple of times a year, it sure could be a fun outing together. That's exactly what we did. Last Friday, we met for lunch at Martha's Bloomers in Navasota, a little town about 70 miles northwest of Houston. 🌸🌺Martha's Bloomers is a home and garden store with a boutique and cafe. It is #5 on the list of Top 50 Shopping Destinations in the South by Southern Living. We had a 2 1/2 hour lunch🥗 with the most delicious food, heart warming conversation ❤️and lots of laughs!😂 I left with a full heart and so glad we took the time to get together. If you are ever in this part of Texas, go to Martha's Bloomers! You will love the experience. So....just for fun think about your friends that you'd love to see. Friends that don't live close but not terribly far from you. Where with a little planning and a few hours one day, you could make it happen. And plan an outing. Get together in person. Have fun!🎉🎉🎉 Don't put it off. Thrive through ServingVolunteer to support cancer patients by being a Chemo Angel. There are 3 ways to do this: Traditional Chemo Angel - You will be assigned a patient who you will encourage through small gifts, cards, letters and uplifting notes throughout the duration of their treatment. Card Angel - You will send your assigned patient a card, letter or note every week. Prayer Angel - You will not be assigned a specific patient, but will receive prayer requests for people going through chemo. I volunteered to be a Prayer Angel and pray for requests as they come in. This is a wonderful serve from home opportunity! Thrive through LearningI learned two things from my almost 8 year old grandson, Jeffrey. I learned that a Nebula is a giant cloud of gas or dust in space. I also learned that his parents are rich.💵 Noted. I expect to be taken care of in grand style in my later years.😄 If you have grandkids, write back and tell me something funny that they said! 😂😂 Shopping more salesI didn't buy any fall/winter clothes before the season started. But I am catching up shopping all the end of season sales. And there are so many cute things at great prices! Here are some of the things I have ordered from Chicos: Button Detail V-Neck Sweater - Classic, soft and lots of colors. Collared V-Neck Pullover Sweater - A beautiful winter white. Floral Jacquard Blouse - Beautiful detail and great layering piece. No Iron Red and Black Floral Shirt - Great for travel. Cashmere Blend Sweater - Gorgeous blue with a black design. Soft and warm! No Stain Girlfriend Jeans - White. Girlfriend Jeans - Comes in denim and black. That's it for this week! Until next time, Cathy Thriving through SERVICE, LEARNING and HAVING FUN! |

The humidity and mosquitos have arrived in Houston, so I guess we are! A NEW FUN Experience My friend, Meredyth, and I went to Artechouse Houston for the Blooming Wonders exhibit. This was the coolest thing. It was digitally created art depicting flowers, plants, butterflies and anything you that you would see in...

I spent most of May watching all the end of year grandkid programs and teaching my 16 year old grandson how to drive. That last one was a lot more time consuming than I anticipated and at times I felt like I had bitten off more than I could chew! One way I survived it was to make a Starbucks run every time we went out...
