Hey Reader,

❤️In addition to Valentine's Day this week, it's a big birthday week for us.

🎉My daughter Allison's 30-something birthday is February 13.

🎂Grandson Jeffrey's 8th birthday is February 12.

When it comes to birthday gifts for the grandkids, I like to provide an experience whenever we can.

Last week, while wasting time on Instagram, I saw that the Harlem Globetrotters were coming to Houston.🏀

Talk about a blast from the past. I didn't even know they were still around.

Since Jeffrey LOVES playing basketball, I thought that this would be the perfect outing for him.

The Globetrotters did not disappoint. It was an afternoon of good, clean, fun family entertainment.

See if they are coming to your city here!

THRIVE by Learning Something New

The new thing I am learning is how to exercise on a Vibration Plate.

This is something my doctor recommended when I was diagnosed with osteoporosis to promote bone growth. It also challenges your balance, which helps prevent falls.

Not medical advice - just what I've been told.

A vibration plate is a device that moves and vibrates while you stand on it. You can just stand, sit or do exercises on it.

I do 10 minutes of exercise a day on the vibration plate. It's kind of fun. And I don't really feel like much is happening when I'm on it. But the next day - boy do I feel it in my muscles.

You can spend thousands of dollars on a vibration plate. I did not do that.

This is the one I purchased and I'm completely satisfied with it.

You can find vibration plates in a variety or price ranges on Amazon.

What is your favorite way to exercise? Write back and tell me!

THRIVE by SERVING OTHERS

I made my second Lasagne Love delivery last week. This was for a family of 4 who had lost their home and were living with friends until they get back on their feet. The lasagne fed both families and was greatly appreciated.

Lasagne Love makes the serving process so easy.

You sign up as a volunteer and tell them how many lasagnes you will make and how often.

I signed up for one lasagne a month.

You also tell them how far you are willing to travel. My limit is 5 miles from home.

When you are matched with someone who meets your criteria, you can accept or decline.

Today I am making 2 lasagnes. One for us and to freeze for the next time I have a Lasagne Love match.

Learn more about Lasagne Love here.

That's it for this week!

Don't forget to write back and tell me your favorite way to exercise!

Until next time,

Cathy

Hey Reader, When I was a little girl in the early 60's my parents both worked shift work. Mom worked days and Dad worked nights, which meant that Dad took care of my sister and me during the day. I have a vivid memory of running errands with my dad on weekday mornings. 💵We went to the Police Department to pick up his pay check. 💈To the barbershop for him to...

The humidity and mosquitos have arrived in Houston, so I guess we are! A NEW FUN Experience My friend, Meredyth, and I went to Artechouse Houston for the Blooming Wonders exhibit. This was the coolest thing. It was digitally created art depicting flowers, plants, butterflies and anything you that you would see in...

I spent most of May watching all the end of year grandkid programs and teaching my 16 year old grandson how to drive. That last one was a lot more time consuming than I anticipated and at times I felt like I had bitten off more than I could chew! One way I survived it was to make a Starbucks run every time we went out...
