πŸžπŸ˜„A Loaf, A Laugh & A Helping Hand🀲

Hey Reader,

I am sitting here thinking "What have I done to serve, learn and have fun this week?".

I feel like all I've done lately is go to routine doctor's appointments and supervise house projects.

I often look at a National Days Calendar to see what is coming up that I could plan something around and I noticed that April 1 is National Sourdough Bread Day.

Who doesn't like BREAD? 🍞

Since I never met a loaf of bread I didn't like, I thought "I will LEARN to make sourdough!".

So I began searching Pinterest for a Sourdough Starter recipe.

After a half hour of that, I LEARNED that I have no interest in making sourdough anything.

Making the starter, feeding it, keeping up with it, regular baking...that's much more work than I am willing to do!

Mad respect for all of you sourdough girls out there!

I'll just continue to enjoy the bread others bake.

Thrive through having fun

I enjoyed a Sunday afternoon at Cirque de Soleil Echo with two of my girlfriends. This family-friendly show was excellent. I saw kids of all ages there. I highly recommend it if it comes to your city.

Thrive through Serving Others

A couple of times a year, my church hosts "Serve Saturday" - a day where they coordinate a bunch of service projects around town.

On Sunday they announced that the next Serve Saturday would be April 12.

πŸ“†I took a look at my calendar, saw that I had nothing scheduled then and immediately started looking at some of the project choices.

I found a couple that I was interested in, but by the time I got around to signing up, they were full.

So since serving others is all about me...I said forget that. Let someone else do those other projects. I serve all the time in other places.

It's almost like those bracelets that say WWJD, except this time it was WWCP (What would Cathy PREFER????)

Anyway, once I got a grip, I went back and signed up to build beds for kids who sleep on the floor every night through a group called Sleep in Heavenly Peace. πŸ›Œ

The project description said no building experience was necessary. They would teach me everything I need to know. I could sand wood or just hand wood to the builders. I think I can handle that.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace has 325 chapters across the US. Maybe there is one in your city.

I'll let you know how it goes.

OK- I want to know...Have you ever baked a loaf of sourdough bread? Did you make your own starter? Are you still doing it? If so, do you live close to me?πŸ˜† Write back and tell me!

Until next time,

Cathy
